What is a sweet display box?

A sweet display box is a printed counter tray or stand that holds wrapped confectionery in rows next to the till. It may be a shallow tray of chocolate bars with a header, a card stand with holes for lolly sticks, or a case of bars with a lid that folds back to become the sign. Each one is cut to the size of your wrapper so the bars stand neatly and do not slide when the front ones are taken.

Sweets are a classic impulse buy. A tidy display at the till turns a queue into a sale.

For a small confectionery brand, a display is often what persuades a shop to stock you at all. A shop owner can picture a neat tray by the till much more easily than a loose case of bars that needs a home.

Which sweet display styles are there?

Small makers often start with one tray style and add a stand later for a second product.

  • Counter tray for bars: a low tray with a header, bars standing on end or lying in rows.
  • Lollipop stand: a printed card with holes that hold sticks upright.
  • Tray with fold back lid: bars packed at your end and the lid opened into a header at the shop.
  • Sharing bag display: a deeper tray or stand that keeps bags upright and facing forward.

For bars, standing on end shows the most wrapper; lying flat in a stepped tray shows the top of every bar at once. Both work, so we decide with you on the proof.

Who orders sweet displays?

Chocolate makers, fudge kitchens, sweet shops supplying other shops, lolly makers selling to cafés, and brands placing new bars with farm shops, delis and gift shops. Larger brands use them for limited editions and launches.

If you sell loose wrapped sweets rather than bars, a dump bin or counter dispenser may suit the product better.

We also make displays for confectionery sold through cafés and coffee shops, where the counter is shared with cakes and the display has to be compact, clean looking and easy to wipe around.

What sells sweets from a display?

Colour, order and an easy reach. Bright packaging in neat rows looks fresh and full. A header that names the product and the flavour, rather than just the brand, helps people choose. And a low front lip means a child can take one without knocking the rest over. Parents notice that kind of thing, and so do shop owners.

Price matters too. Where the shop allows, a small printed price strip on the front lip saves the assistant answering the same question all day.

Which board suits a sweet display?

E flute for trays holding a full count of bars, white card for lolly stands and light trays. Gloss lamination is the usual finish because it makes colours bright and wipes clean.

How should a sweet display be printed?

Echo your wrapper. The display should look like part of the same family, so use the same colours, the same logo and, if you have one, the same character or pattern. Print the inside of trays, because people look down into them, and put the flavour or product name on the front lip.

A little foil or spot UV on the header logo can lift a display for a premium chocolate without changing the rest of the artwork.

If your wrapper is foil or metallic, a white or bright inside print on the tray stops the bars looking dark under shop lights.

Wrapped products only

Displays hold wrapped sweets. The wrapper protects the product; the display presents it. Unwrapped sweets need food packaging, not a display box.

How do we size a sweet display?

  1. Send one wrapped bar, lolly or bag, or its exact size in mm.
  2. Tell us how many should fit, and in how many rows.
  3. Say whether bars stand on end, lie flat or lean back.
  4. We set the tray, lip and header to fit, with a small clearance.
  5. The proof shows the display full size with your artwork.

Sizes on wrappers vary more than people expect, especially on hand wrapped bars. Measure a few and send the largest.

How many bars should a display hold?

A tray of one or two dozen bars suits most small shops: it looks full, sells through in a sensible time and is easy to refill from a case. Big sellers in busy shops can go larger. Lolly stands usually hold a dozen or two sticks in a grid, spaced so they do not touch.

Think about how the shop will refill it. A display sized to exactly one outer case of bars makes restocking simple: one case in, one display full.

What about mixed flavours?

Divider strips keep each flavour in its own lane. On a lolly stand, colour coded hole rings or printed labels under each row show which flavour goes where, which helps the shop refill correctly.

Put the best seller in the centre and the newest flavour at the front corner, where it is seen first by people reaching in.

Fill the front row

Sweets sell from the front. We angle trays or add a step so the back rows move forward in the eye as the front empties.

How do I order sweet display boxes?

Send the wrapper size, the count per display and how many displays you want. A price comes by email within one working day, then a free proof. Production takes 5 to 7 working days after you approve it. If you are placing your first display with a shop, read how to size a counter display.

How do sweet displays arrive?

Flat in outer cartons, or as cases with a lid if you plan to pack bars at your end. We send them by tracked courier free of charge to UK mainland addresses, normally within 2 to 3 working days. If any are misprinted or damaged, tell us within 10 days for a reprint or refund.

Store flat displays somewhere dry before packing, as damp card loses its stiffness.

Sweet Display Boxes FAQs

More answers in Help

How much do sweet display boxes cost?

From £0.25 a box. The price comes by email and depends on size, board, print and quantity.

Can the display hold lollies on sticks?

Yes. A card stand with holes holds each stick upright.

Can I pack bars into the display myself?

Yes. The lid tray style ships flat to you and closes after packing.

Does the display touch the sweets?

No. It holds wrapped sweets, and the wrapper stays the food packaging.

Can I have different flavours in one tray?

Yes. Divider strips keep each flavour in its own lane.

Which finish suits sweet displays?

Gloss lamination is the usual choice for bright colour and easy cleaning.

Can the header have our character on it?

Yes. We can print it and die cut the header to its outline.

Do you make displays for sharing bags?

Yes. Deeper trays or stands keep bags upright and facing forward.

How many bars does a display usually hold?

Commonly one to two dozen, but we size it to your count.

Can the display be printed inside?

Yes, and it is worth it because shoppers look down into the tray.

Do you supply the sweet wrappers?

No. We make the displays; your wrapper supplier makes the wrappers.

Can I order displays for a limited edition?

Yes. Low minimums make short runs for limited editions practical.
