Glass jars are heavy and fragile; tell us the weight and we choose the board for it.
Candle display boxes are the boxes and counter displays that present a candle in a shop: an individual box with a window that stands on a shelf, a rigid box with a lid for gifting, or a tray that holds several jar candles on a counter with a printed header. They protect the glass, keep dust off the wax and carry the brand, the scent and the burn details.
Candles are bought with the eyes and the nose. The box has to show enough of the candle to tempt, and look good enough on a shelf that people pick it up to smell the tester.
For small candle makers, a well made box also justifies the price. A candle in a plain jar on a shelf can look like a craft fair purchase; the same candle in a printed box with a window looks like a gift worth paying for.
All are sized to your candle including the lid, and printed to match your labels.
If you sell several sizes, we can make a family of boxes that share one design and differ only in height and window size, so the range looks consistent on a shelf.
Gift shops, home stores, garden centres, farm shops, hotel shops and craft markets. Candle makers often supply a counter tray with testers to a shop, and boxed candles for the shelf behind it.
For a full window on a lidded box, see our window display boxes, which use the same film and cutting.
Candle makers who sell at markets often use the same counter tray on their own stall, which saves ordering separate stall displays.
Box each candle when it will be sold as a gift, posted, or kept on a shelf for weeks. Use an open tray when the shop sells from the counter and wants shoppers to lift lids and smell. Many makers do both: a tray of unboxed testers at the till and boxed stock on the shelf.
Boxed candles also stay cleaner. Dust settles on wax and on the tops of jars in a few weeks on an open shelf, and a box or a window lid keeps them looking new until they sell.

Card works for most single candle boxes; rigid board suits gift sets and premium ranges; E flute is used for counter trays holding several jars.
| Use | Board | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Single jar or tin candle | White or kraft card | Add a collar insert for glass |
| Gift candle or set | Rigid board | Solid feel, lid and base |
| Counter tray of jars | E flute | Cells hold each jar apart |
| Pillar candles | White card | Tall box with a window |
Glass jars are heavier than they look. A large jar candle can be too much for thin card on its own, so either add a collar insert to spread the weight or move to a slightly heavier board.
Match the label on the vessel: same colours, same typeface. Leave space for the scent name, the weight and a short burn and safety note, which many retailers expect to see on the box. A dark box with foil suits luxury candles; kraft with one or two colours suits natural, handmade ranges.
Keep the window frame simple so the candle is the centre of attention.
A short scent description, two or three notes rather than a paragraph, helps shoppers choose without opening the box. Put it on the front near the window where people look first.
A loose jar rattles in the box and chips at the rim. A simple card collar or cradle stops it moving and costs little on the same order.
For tins, which are shallow and wide, a sleeve or a low tuck box often looks better than a tall box with a window.
A little at the sides and a little more on height so the lid is not pressed. Without an insert, too much clearance lets the jar slide and knock the box walls. With a collar insert, the box can be slightly larger and the jar still stays put.
Measure the jar at its widest point, which is often the lid rather than the glass, and send both numbers if they differ.
Cells sized to the jar, with enough gap between jars for fingers to lift them out. A tester jar at the front, lid off, and boxed stock behind. A header names the range and the scents.
Keep the tray low enough that the jar labels show above the front lip. A deep tray hides the scent names and makes the shop owner lift every jar to answer questions.
A window shows the colour of the wax and the vessel. Place it where the candle looks best, often the upper half of the jar.
Send the candle size, style and quantity. We email a price within one working day, then a free proof. Production runs for 5 to 7 working days once the proof is signed off. If you are unsure about board for heavier jars, read our board guide.
Card and corrugated boxes ship flat; rigid boxes ship made up, packed so lids and corners are protected. Delivery is free and tracked across the UK mainland and takes 2 to 3 working days after dispatch. Tell us within 10 days about any misprints or damage and we reprint or refund the affected boxes.
