What is a cosmetic display box?

A cosmetic display box is a counter display built for beauty products: a printed tray, tier or stand with compartments sized to palettes, bottles, tubes and sticks. Cosmetics rarely come in one shape, so the display holds a mix, keeps every item upright and in its place, and lets the colours of the range do the talking.

Beauty counters are crowded with competing brands. A display that holds your range neatly, carries your look and stays clean is what earns a place by the till or on the reception desk.

For a newer brand, a good display also signals that the range is established and looked after. Shops are more willing to try a brand that arrives with its own neat merchandising than one that needs shelf space found for it.

Which cosmetic display styles do we make?

Each style is cut to your product sizes, and we can combine features, for example a curved front with a tester row.

  • Compartment tray with header: a grid of cells for mixed products, the most common build.
  • Tiered serum display: steps that lift bottles at the back so labels stay visible.
  • Curved front display: a sweeping front panel for a softer, more retail look.
  • Tester and stock display: a tester row at the front and boxed stock behind.

Some brands order a family: a compact compartment tray for small shops and a larger tiered display for flagship stockists, both printed from the same artwork so the brand looks consistent.

Where do cosmetic displays go?

Salons and spas, pharmacies, gift and lifestyle shops, hotel shops, independent beauty retailers and pop up stands at events. Salons in particular have reception counters that suit a compact display with testers.

For lip products alone, a dedicated lip balm display box holds small sticks more efficiently.

At events and markets, a cosmetic display doubles as a stand display, so many brands order a few extra beyond what their stockists need.

How do compartments help sell cosmetics?

They keep the range in order. A shopper sees every shade or product at once and can pick the one they want without disturbing the rest. Compartments also stop glass bottles knocking together and keep small items like lip balms from disappearing to the back. When a cell is empty, the shop knows exactly what to reorder.

For shades and colours, we can print a small swatch or name under each cell. That turns the display into a simple colour guide and saves shoppers opening testers just to compare.

Which board suits a cosmetic display?

E flute for most counter displays, white card for light and small displays, and rigid board for premium displays that need a heavier, more permanent feel.

Rigid board costs more but lasts longer, which suits displays meant to stay in place for many months.

How should a cosmetic display be printed?

Print it like your packaging: same colours, same typefaces, same patterns. Print inside the compartments too, because empty cells show the inner walls. A clean white or pale inner print makes coloured products pop; a dark inner print suits luxury ranges.

Matt lamination with spot UV on the logo is a popular combination for beauty brands. Foil works well on headers for gift ranges and limited editions.

Keep ingredient claims and small print on your product packaging rather than the display. The display should carry the brand, the range name and perhaps one line about what makes it different.

Testers get messy

A tester row picks up fingerprints and spills. Gloss lamination wipes clean, and a separate tester insert can be replaced without changing the whole display.

How do we size a cosmetic display?

For bottles with droppers or pumps, include the full height with the cap on.

  1. List each product with its width, depth and height in mm.
  2. Tell us how many of each should be on show.
  3. Say whether you want testers and where.
  4. Give us the counter space available if you know it.
  5. We lay out the compartments and send a full size proof.

How do mixed sizes fit one display?

We group products by height so the display steps up from short to tall, and by width so the cells line up neatly. Tall bottles go at the back or on a raised tier, flat palettes at the front. The proof shows the layout from above and from the front so you can move things around before printing.

If you plan to add products later, tell us. We can leave a spare cell or design the insert so it can be reprinted with a new layout while the outer display stays the same.

How big should the header be?

Cosmetic displays usually sit on reception desks or near tills, often under a shelf or mirror. A header around the height of the tallest product above the display is a good start. If you want to show a face or a lifestyle image, it needs more height; we can add a separate slot in header for that.

Mirrors behind reception desks are common in salons; a header printed on both sides looks good in the reflection, which is a small detail shoppers notice.

Match the pack finish

If your cartons are soft touch or foil, ask for matching foil or a similar matt finish on the display so the two look like one range.

How do I order cosmetic display boxes?

Send your product sizes, counts and the quantity of displays. We reply with a price by email within one working day, then a free proof with the compartment layout. Production takes 5 to 7 working days after approval. Choosing between card and corrugated? See our guide to board for display boxes.

How are cosmetic displays delivered?

Displays ship flat with compartment inserts packed alongside, ready to fold up and fill. Delivery is tracked, free to UK mainland addresses and takes 2 to 3 working days from dispatch. Report any misprinted or damaged displays within 10 days for a reprint or refund.

If you are sending displays to salons, we can quote packing them singly so each one goes out with a stock order.
